GT4 Rear Wing Overview:

Introducing our 1600mm carbon fiber wing for the Cayman GT4! We take pride in delivering you products that have been well tested and above all, produce real results. This wing in particular has been in the works for several months. We examined the OEM wing and several alternative designs while finally concluding with this design. You can bet you will feel the difference with this wing and see increased grip and reduced lap times. Wings are a great way to add efficient downforce to any vehicle. Properly designed wings increase the speed of the air underneath and thus create a low pressure region below and a higher pressure region above. This pressure differential creates downforce on the wing's surface and increases ultimate grip levels for your car.
The DBJ 1600mm carbon fiber wing was designed with the intention to create high downforce while maintaining great efficiency. To achieve this one of the most noticeable design features is the swan neck mount! The swan neck design has shown to increase downforce production by about 13% and even reduce drag. You can read more about the study here. At more aggressive angles of attack (AOA), this wing can produce up to 160lbs of downforce at only 80mph while maintaining a great lift to drag ratio. The wing also features 16 degrees of adjustment so you can easily fine tune your aero balance for your particular setup. The height of the wing is also set such that the wing rests just above your view in the rear mirror so you can have 100% unobstructed view of your friends as you pass them. The wing stands mount directly into the factory holes in the trunk so this wing will fit both the 981 and 718 cayman GT4 models. For those wanting to outfit this on a non-GT4 car, you can check out our adapter kit. Also included now is a full carbon fiber gurney flap for higher downforce applications.

Construction:

The wing is made from 3mm thick dry carbon fiber ensuring the best quality of strength and stiffness. The wing mounting tabs are now made of carbon fiber for additional weight savings and extra strength. The bottom surface of the wing is completely smooth for optimal performance. The endplates are also constructed from carbon fiber and have built in adjustment for angle.
The wing stands and wing stand covers are made from aluminum 6061-T6, sand blasted and hard anodized with a matte black finish. These stands are extremely difficult to manufacture as they are made by 5-axis CNC machines but offer strength and subtle detailing. These stands are extremely stiff and have even been FEA tested to ensure minimal deflections in all directions and strength to carry high forces. They feature subtle but sleek contouring ensuring smooth flow and styling.

3D Scanning & Prototyping

Each DBJ product goes through several rigorous design phases. Starting from scratch, we collect high accuracy scanned data from cars to ensure great fitment. Data is then processed and models and designs are created using CAD software. Prototyping using 3D rapid prototyping printers are used to confirm scans and fitment. Sometimes we are able to print out entirely functional parts for road and track testing.

Computational Fluid Dynamics

Initial designs are tested using both finite element analysis (FEA) and computation fluid dynamics (CFD). Both these methods require several iterations to ensure proper performance and optimization of DBJ parts.

Real world testing

Finally once the design is completed, we test our prototypes on the street and track! Thoroughly test driving our products helps ensure that our customers have nothing but the best experiences when it comes to installation and performance results.
